Cursor Adds JetBrains IDE Support

ide developer-tools jetbrains

What happened

Cursor became available in JetBrains IDEs in early March 2026 through the Agent Client Protocol (ACP). Developers can install the Cursor ACP from the JetBrains ACP Registry and authenticate with their existing Cursor account. It supports IntelliJ IDEA, PyCharm, WebStorm, and other JetBrains IDEs running version 2025.3.2 or later.

Why it matters

JetBrains IDEs have strong adoption among Java, Python, .NET, and Go developers. Cursor's expansion to JetBrains means these developers can now access Cursor's agent features without switching their primary IDE.

Who should pay attention

  • JetBrains IDE users who were interested in Cursor but unwilling to switch to VS Code
  • Teams evaluating AI coding tools across mixed IDE environments
